Arkansas Continuing Education is designed for licensed drivers seeking to improve their skills and knowledge. What are the age requirements to get a permit (Learner's License) in Arkansas
Students must be at least 14 years old and cannot have any traffic violations to to receive a Learner's License from an Arkansas State Police (ASP) Driver Services Testing Center.
The student must contact the Arkansas State Police (ASP) Driver Services Testing Center in their county, schedule an appointment for a knowledge test, and provide the required documents on the day of their apppointment.
How long must you hold on to your permit (Learner's License) in Arkansas?
Students must hold the Learner's license for at least 6 months without any major traffic violations or a-fault accidents.
Who can you drive with when you hold a Arkansas permit (Learner's License)?
With a Learner's License, the student can only operate a motor vehicle when accompanied by a fully licensed driver who is 21 years or older.
When can a teen earn their license in Arkansas?
Teens ages 16 or 17, who have carried their Learner's license for at least 6 months can obtain a an Intermediate License. An Intermediate License allows teens to operate a non-commercial motor vehicle without the need for an additional licensed adult accompanying them.
Teens will need to schedule an appointment with a certified Arkansas State Police (ASP) Driver Services Testing Center and present the necessary documents to take a road skills test and earn their intermediate license.
