Utah Continuing Driver Education Courses

Utah Continuing Education is designed for licensed drivers seeking to improve their skills and knowledge. This program also includes benefits such as national recognition by insurance companies for discounts on insurance rates. This program also qualifies as a driving record point-reduction program in several states (excluding Virginia).

Students should confirm with their insurance providers how many hours of education are required for discounts and must complete the course while their license remains valid. Additionally, students are responsible for maintaining a record of their completed course for five years.

Utah Teen Supplemental Driver Education Courses

Utah Teen Supplemental Driver Education is designed for teens who would like additional information on the the best practices when driving. Our courses are recognized by insurance agencies across the nation. So, if your insurance company offers driver education discounts, you can use the certificate from our course as proof of completion.

What are the age requirements to get a permit in Utah?

In Utah, individuals are eligible to apply for a learner permit at the age of 15.

How do you get your permit in Utah?

To obtain a learner permit, applicants must pass a 50-question written knowledge test. Additionally, those aged 18 and younger are required to complete a driver education course. Applicants aged 19 and older have the option to either complete a driver education course or hold the learner permit for 90 days while completing at least 40 hours of practice driving, including 10 hours after sunset.

How long must you hold a permit in Utah?

For applicants aged 15 to 17, the learner permit must be held for six months before applying for a driver license. Once an individual turns 18, the six-month holding period is no longer required.

Who can you drive with when you hold a Utah permit?

While holding a learner permit, drivers must be accompanied by a licensed driver who is at least 21 years old and occupies the front passenger seat. Additionally, permit holders are required to complete at least 40 hours of practice driving, with 10 of those hours conducted after sunset.

When can a teen earn their license in Utah?

Teens can earn their driver license at the age of 16, provided they have held their learner permit for the required six months, completed a driver education course, and fulfilled the practice driving requirements. Before obtaining the license, they must also pass the online Traffic Safety and Trends exam with a score of 100%.
